About Justice Corner

There is a higher court than courts of justice and that is the court of conscience. It supersedes all other courts.” Mahatma Gandhi

Justice Corner is a social media site that seeks to raise awareness about social justice issues that may not have been elevated to national media outlets.

The founder, Tanya Washington, is an advocate and a former defense attorney that has fought for civil rights for decades. Most recently she has worked to reform juvenile justice and child welfare systems by providing expertise and technical assistance to state and local leaders and judges who are interested in promoting positive outcomes for at-risk youth. Her influence has resulted in reductions in out-of-home placements of youth in several states. Her hope is that by creating awareness concerning the ongoing injustice prevalent in youth serving systems across the country that she can inspire communities to take up this issue and promote positive change.

Tanya Washington is driven by a passion to make a difference and correct the harms that such systems historically and characteristically bestow on youth and families. The hope is that this “corner” will provide a place for honest and respectful discourse in pursuit of justice.
